Project Overview

A 13.1-Mile Community Race in Frisco, Benefiting the Collin College Foundation.

Frisco went from 6,000 residents in 1990 to over 200,000 today. The Frisco Chamber of Commerce has been part of that growth the entire way, and the Texas Big Star Half Marathon is its community race — a 13.1-mile course through the city and Collin College that draws 2,000 runners each year and raises scholarship money for Collin College Foundation and Frisco ISD students.

The Texas Big Star Half Marathon is produced in partnership with the Frisco Chamber Foundation, the 501(c)3 arm of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce — a 13.1-mile road race through Frisco and Collin College. ESW manages full event production, turning a community organization's vision into a race-day reality that brings 2,000 runners to one of the fastest-growing cities in America.

The Frisco Chamber of Commerce is the 'Voice of Business' for Frisco — a city that grew from roughly 6,000 residents in 1990 to over 200,000 today. The Texas Big Star Half Marathon is produced as a community event and member engagement initiative, with proceeds supporting Collin College Foundation scholarships and Frisco ISD students.

How We Made It Happen

Growing City. Professional Race.

ESW manages full production for the Texas Big Star Half Marathon — USATF course certification, city and Collin College campus permitting, chip timing, volunteer coordination, and public safety planning. The course crosses both Frisco city streets and Collin College campus property, which requires separate permitting tracks and coordination with two entities.

The Moment That Defines It

Mason Wheeless

Every runner at Big Star came specifically to run this race. They chose this city, this course, this morning. The entire event footprint is designed to be both fun and easy. Accessible parking, packed runner village, flat and fast course, great volunteer support. It's definitely a hallmark event for everyone who returns year after year.

The police and course management are a real standout for this event. We have a very robust public notification system and continue to leverage and incredibly efficient traffic management program to keep area residents moving while runners enjoy the race.
