Tulsa Heart Walk
The American Heart Association's annual community walk in downtown Tulsa — survivor recognition, corporate teams, and pledged fundraising for cardiovascular research.
Tulsa's energy industry — Williams Companies, ONEOK, and others — has long been one of the city's defining civic institutions. That corporate culture shows up at the Heart Walk. Teams come out in matching shirts with company banners, and alongside them are heart disease survivors, families, and community members walking in support of the AHA's mission. ESW manages full event operations for the American Heart Association's Tulsa market.
The Tulsa Heart Walk is part of the American Heart Association's national Heart Walk program, held in cities across the United States each spring. Tulsa's version draws thousands of participants annually — corporate teams from the city's energy sector, heart disease survivors and their families, and community members walking in support of AHA's research and education mission. The event is non-competitive: participants walk one to three miles, with the day organized around survivor recognition, team fundraising, and AHA health programming. ESW manages full event operations on behalf of the American Heart Association's Tulsa chapter.
The American Heart Association was founded in 1924 and has grown into one of the largest voluntary health organizations in the United States. Its Heart Walk program — held in cities nationwide — is the AHA's primary community fundraising vehicle. Tulsa's Heart Walk benefits from one of the more active corporate philanthropic communities in Oklahoma, driven in large part by the energy sector companies headquartered in the city. Fox 23 Tulsa has covered the event in 2024, 2025, and 2026, reflecting its standing as a recognized annual community event. The 2026 edition featured Barry 'Coach' Hinson — a former college basketball coach who underwent a routine preventive coronary screening with no symptoms, which caught massive blockages before a heart attack could occur, leading to bypass surgery — as the event's community survivor spokesperson, drawing pre-event coverage from the American Heart Association's national newsroom.

The Tulsa Heart Walk takes place in downtown Tulsa at ONEOK each spring and draws a mixed audience — corporate teams with coordinated fundraising, heart disease survivors and their families, and general community participants. The event's production requires managing the full range: site setup and breakdown, participant and team registration flow, survivor recognition programming, vendor coordination, and the overall experience that keeps thousands of people moving through the event comfortably. ESW coordinates directly with the American Heart Association's Tulsa chapter staff throughout planning and execution.
